The creation of Ultrasoun
Created in 1999 by music entrepreneur Dr. Richie Kimble, the talented creative entertainer, producer & founder of Rich Music Inc., Ultrasoun offers a unique flavorful genre of urban music that has taken a full decade to perfect.
While writing music ten years ago, Dr. Richie Kimble stumbled upon a unique piece that he couldn't quite put a label on. He wasn't sure exactly what it was, just that it was original and sounded great. Hungry to create fantastic music and realizing that he had discovered something uniquely special, Dr. Kimble started creating more of it, experimenting with the format he had originally discovered in an attempt to perfect it. As he refined the sound, he realized it was like nothing else in existence, so he gave it the name Ultrasoun.

Origin of the name Ultrasoun
In 1999, along with his brother, Dr. Richie Kimble founded Ultrasound Productions which served as the in-house production company for the Indie Hip Hop label Embryo Music, also founded by Dr. Richie Kimble & his brother in 1999. Since ultrasounds are used to view images of embryos, and since Richie considered this newly created music to be his baby, Kimble decided to use the moniker Ultrasoun. To avoid any confusion between an actual medical Ultrasound and the type of music he was refining, Kimble decided to drop the "d" and pronounce Ultrasoun the same way as ultrasound. The now fully matured original genre of music known as Ultrasoun simply means "unborn music", that song deep inside that's screaming to get out.
What exactly is Ultrasoun?
Ultrasoun is a blend of many different styles of heavy rhythm, drum & bass driven music, and it is influenced by strong Caribbean, African and Hip Hop flavors. The word ultrasoun best describes the music itself and not just the concept behind it, as it's an unusual sound that's ultra (extreme). Ultrasoun is diverse and unusual, often manipulating the basic format of music itself, rearranging rhythm and harmony by exchanging the placement of the instruments in unique ways, for example, playing the snare where a hi-hat shot would normally go or playing a kick drum where a snare hit might go. Another description of Ultrasoun is that the music offers a common theme of a Hip Hop beat playing simultaneously with a Drum & Bass beat while a Caribbean bass drum pattern plays in the background. This innovation to music itself has given Kimble the right to put Ultrasoun in its own category and genre.
Influences
Dr. Richie Kimble was introduced to a versatile catalog of music at an early age, and that has heavily influenced the diversity of Rich Music, Inc. and the creativity of Ultrasoun itself. Born and raised in Cambridge, MA., Dr. Kimble's parents are both of Haitian desent. Richie's Haitian heritage explains the strong Caribbean influence apparent in Ultrasoun. Also apparent in Ultrasoun is its unique blend of House and Techno rhythms. At a young age, Dr Richie Kimble started off listening to Techno and House Music before really getting into Hip Hop itself.
As Dr. Kimble and his tastes matured, and as music itself changed with the times, so did Dr. Kimble's selection of music. He began getting heavily into other, more textured Caribbean music, such as reggae, calypso, soca, kompa and zouke. With these diversified tastes, it's no wonder that Dr. Kimble created the unique brand of music now known as Ultrasoun.
